The Lake
As it appeared in the early 1900's looking toward Mt. Baldy (Spokane):

with the coming of the railroad, the rustic charm of Spirit Lake drew many visitors, particularly from Spokane, arriving at the elegant Fountain Park
and heading to the steamboat to take a ride up the lake.  The rock part of the  fountain is still visible on the left as you go down the hill on Maine Street.

This is the view towards the rail station from across the Mill Pond... The current Public Access is on the right in this photo, and Fireside Park was occupied
by several smaller buildings before the office for the Mill was moved to that location by the Hohman family...

In recent years, the Mill Pond was given a new subsurface to control leaking--click here for the story...
